About SwingerCruiseReview
What exactly does SwingerCruiseReview do?
We provide honest, firsthand reviews of cruise ships and itineraries from the perspective of the swinging and lifestyle community. We evaluate ships based on their “vibe,” adult-only spaces, staff friendliness toward lifestyle couples, and overall suitability for those looking for more than just a standard vacation.
Are your reviews only for full-ship charters?
No. While we review large charters (like Bliss or Desire), we also review “Vanilla” cruises (standard sailings). We highlight which mainstream lines are the most “lifestyle-friendly” and where you are most likely to find like-minded couples.
Do you organize the cruises yourselves
No. We are an independent review and educational site. We do not book travel or host the events; we simply provide the data and reviews so you can choose the best trip for your needs. We do actively participate on Cruusex a community dedicated to Swinging Cruisers.
Swinging on a Cruise Ship
What is a “Full-Ship Charter” vs. a “Group Takeover”?
A Full-Ship Charter means a lifestyle company has booked the entire vessel; everyone onboard is part of the lifestyle. A Group Takeover is when a smaller group of swingers books a block of cabins on a regular, public cruise. The latter requires much more discretion.
Is there a “secret code” to find other swingers on a regular cruise?
The most famous symbol is the upside-down pineapple, often displayed on cabin doors or worn on clothing. Some people also use “slut cards” (business cards with their contact info) or wear a black ring on their right hand to signal they are in the lifestyle. Check out the Gear Shop on Cruusex for both discreet and bold swinger cruise gear!
Where are the best places to meet other lifestyle couples?
On a charter, the playrooms and themed parties are the hubs. On a vanilla cruise, the adults-only solarium, late-night hot tubs, and piano bars are the best places to strike up a flirty conversation.
Hooking Up & Etiquette
Is hooking up with other passengers allowed?
On a charter, it is expected and encouraged in private cabins or designated play areas. On a vanilla cruise, keep it behind closed doors. Most cruise lines do not mind consensual adult interactions as long as they do not happen in public or disturb other guests.
Can I hook up with the crew? Absolutely not.
Hooking up with crew members is a strictly enforced “fireable offense” for them and can result in you being kicked off the ship. Respect their professional boundaries—they are at work.
What are the rules regarding “Playrooms”?
Playrooms (found on charters) have strict rules: Consent is mandatory, no photos or phones are allowed, and “no means no” is the absolute law. Always sit on a towel and respect the “no joining without asking” etiquette unless the area is designated otherwise.
What happens if I get “too rowdy” on a vanilla cruise?
Discretion is your best friend. If you engage in public indecency or harass other passengers who aren’t in the lifestyle, security will intervene. This can lead to being confined to your cabin or being forced to disembark at the next port without a refund.
